Corbin, Peter (American, b. 1945)
Off the Roost
1983, 24”x 40”, acrylic
Peter Corbin paints the life he leads. The son of a New Jersey banker, he grew up with a passion for hunting and fishing. Once he graduated from college, he started buying sporting prints, seeing in many of them room for improvement. His wife finally told him to start painting if he thought he could do better. Since then, his list of credits and awards due to his paintings read like an artist’s dream.
This painting, “Off the Roost,” was commissioned by Andy Andrews during a hunting trip to Southern Texas with Peter Corbin and Andy’s friend, Stanley Allen. The geese are coming off their roost and flying towards the rag decoys set up around the hunters in the rice fields. |
