1985, 24” x 36”, acrylic on canvas
Living on the edge of a national forest in Montana, Daniel Smith draws inspiration from his surroundings for every landscape. He is most known for his realist paintings of highly detailed, anatomically accurate renderings of both North American mammals and African species. In 1988, he won the US Federal Duck Stamp with a pair of snow geese. He has won many awards for his efforts in conservation.
Timber wolves are the largest wild members of the dog family and are identified by their silvery grey-brown backs. Wolves are social and live in packs. They can often be found in Wisconsin and a dozen other states in the country. |
